The majority of my practicum was based around harvesting open access works of UMSL faculty. The first goal of my practicum tied in with the Student Learning Outcome (SLO) of applying core principles, ethics, values, and knowledge. This was done by learning about what works were open access and which had embargos on them still. Another SLO goal was to be competent in information organization and lifecycle activities techniques of organizations. Using Microsoft Teams and virtual connections, as well as an online blog post to document hours, was used to achieve this goal.
The third goal, being able to assess community needs, formulate plans to respond to users of information agencies, and instruct users in using informational resources was achieved through making open access work available for users and researchers, as well as provide tutorials for next semester students on how to compile open access work.
