A+ 2 |OA Process – Adding Preprints and Working Papers

Adding a Preprint Work

Preprints of articles can be added as OA works to the professor’s Selected Works profile. Select “Harvest Works” and find the link for the PREPRINT copy of the article. Note this is OA, so it will be added to the OA Works category.

Edit this work, adding PREPRINT in front of the title of the article. This is important because a PREPRINT copy has not been peer-reviewed.

Add the abstract and the keywords, if available. This work is available through Creative Commons so that information will be added while editing the work as well. Select the proper CC designation from the dropdown menu. CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 means the work is available with Attribution, for Non-Commercial purposes with no derivatives. For more information on the CC designations please see this post.

From the top of the Preprint article.

Now go back to the professor’s works spreadsheet and change “missing” to the action taken. In this case, it is “added link & added preprint link”.

Adding Working Papers

Working papers can be added to professor’s Selected Works Profile as Open Access Works. Just add the link to the papers, not the PDF.

They may not be listed as working papers from Discovery. This example is listed as a book.

The working papers can be added from the “Harvest Works” selection.

Add it to the Open Access Works category
This is how it will look on the professor’s Selected Works profile.

When you are finished adding all the OA works, change the professor’s grade in the Faculty Profiles List to an A+. Also, add “added” to Column A, Added OA on the professor’s OA Checked spreadsheet.
